The scale, or the oxides on the surface, is blasted from the hot steel with a jet of water. Wherever heated steel is shaped, a de-scaling system increases the quality of the components. At the same time, wear in the forming equipment is minimized.

The scale layer is broken up by the high pressure water jet, the scale shrinks due to the spontaneous cooling. De-scaling with water as working medium is by far more effective and more economical method. Special de-scaling jets mounted on nozzle bars are used in de-scaling.
